Overview
We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator/Production Operative to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various machinery, ensuring production processes run smoothly and efficiently. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in fabrication, mechanical knowledge, and materials handling to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. Candidates should possess a strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Duties

Ensuring all paperwork and admin tasks are maintained accurately.

  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, milling machines, and other production machinery
  • Set up machinery using hand tools and tooling, ensuring proper calibration and safety standards are met
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on equipment to minimise downtime
  • Handle materials safely and efficiently, including loading and unloading components or raw materials
  • Read technical drawings and CAD files to assist with fabrication and assembly tasks
  • Use programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to programme or adjust machinery settings as required
  • Assist with welding, assembly, or other fabrication tasks as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Document production activities accurately and report any issues promptly

Experience

  • Proven experience in fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environments is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programmes
  • Knowledge of mechanical processes including milling, welding, and materials handling
  • Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous
  • Competence in using hand tools and basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Warehouse experience or familiarity with assembly lines can be beneficial
  • Strong understanding of tooling requirements and safety protocols within a manufacturing setting
